With approximately 100 retail units for lease on the Basement 1 and Level 1 of The Wisteria, there will be little need to venture beyond to do any shopping. The two confirmed anchor tenants are Fairprice supermarket and Kopitiam.
The 216 residential units are located from Level 4 to 12. Facilities, like the 50m freeform lap pool are also located on Level 4’s e-deck.
Unit sizes vary through its 1 to 4-bedroom variations. The smallest unit is a Type 1A 1-bedroom at approximately 441 sqft. Typically considered a shoebox unit, these bedrooms types are expected to be more popular among singles or investors due to their lower quantum. There are 27 of these unit types.
All other bedroom types also have 27 units per type with the exception of the Type 3B 3-bedroom + study which has 54 units. These units are the second largest, at an approximate 969 sqft.
The finishing for every unit type are tiles for every part of the unit except for the bedrooms which are vinyl flooring. Vinyl flooring is better with water absorption than laminate flooring. Its higher moisture absorption also makes it water-proof.
Thus, it’s ideal for bedrooms. As spaces most frequently used other than the living room, bedrooms tend to be hotspots for tracking water. It also has the highest chance to get stuffy so moisture absorption helps with keeping undesirables like mould from forming.
As for appliances, Electrolux is the brand used throughout The Wisteria. The usual set of appliances like fridge, microwave oven and oven are provided but not all units come with them.
Bedroom Types 1A and 1B (1-bedroom and 1-bedroom + study) come with a built-in integrated fridge while the other unit types are not. A built-in microwave unit is also provided for only these two unit types. An oven however, is provided for Types 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B and Type 4 units.
Washing machines and dryers are not on the list of provided appliances either. As for sanitary fittings, expect the usual collection. These are from Hansgrohe.
An audio intercom system for the units will be installed as part of an overall security system that includes card access and CCTV surveillance.
On top of all this are the new Smart Home features to be installed into the framework of every unit in The Wisteria.
Integrated with ABB-free@ home system, residents can remotely control access to their main door from a smart device. This system extends to light switches and air-con but only for the main entrance, living, dining and master bedroom.
The sales launch date for The Wisteria is expected to occur sometime in February 2016. A full review of The Wisteria will follow soon after.
Location

Singapore’s northern regions have seen much redevelopment in the recent decades.
What was primarily large swathes of land occupied by high-rise HDB flats since 1976 is gradually catching up with the rapid developments seen in more popular districts in the eastern and central regions of Singapore.
Yishun New Town was designed like all other new towns on the island. Convenience is the order of the day and to facilitate this, markets, schools, religious buildings, community centres, shopping and other recreational facilities are planned as part of the overall development.
Northpoint Shopping Centre which is integrated with Yishun MRT station is Singapore’s first suburban mall. It was refurbished in 2010 to combine it with the new wing, Northpoint 2. Now, Northpoint Shopping Centre is the heart of Yishun.
Its myriad shops, grocery stores, restaurants and other retail elements support the growing population in that district. GV Yishun, formerly Yishun 10 and Singapore’s first multiplex opened in 1992, tops off the self-sustaining ecosystem of the Yishun New town with its own cinema.
For residents of Khatib however, Northpoint is a bit of a distance away. Fortunately, sometime between 2018 and 2020, residents of Yishun and more directly, Khatib, can add another massive development to their town; The Wisteria.
About 850m (supposedly a 10 minute walk) to and fro Khatib MRT station along Yishun Ring Road, The Wisteria is a residential condominium built atop a shopping complex. The development is by NorthernOne Development Pte. Ltd.
Situated roughly 880m from Khatib MRT station, The Wisteria is on a meandering but direct path from the station through Yishun Ring Road.
The Wisteria sits along Yishun Avenue 4 and Yishun Ring Road of which the latter encircles the Khatib and Yishun areas with both MRT stations firmly within its center. The road connects residents to Yishun Park as well as schools like Northbrooks Secondary and North View Primary & Secondary that across from each other.
Other schools in the vicinity are Northland Primary, Naval Base Primary and Orchid Park Secondary though these are along Yishun Avenue 4. This road links to Yishun Central.
There are more schools around, like Chung Cheng High School along Yishun Street 61 which is about a 10 to 15 minute drive away. Street 61 is a right turn along Yishun Ring Road in the direction of the train station.
With these many schools in the immediate vicinity, The Wisteria, with its sprawling mega complex status, appears to be geared toward families.
As many of these schools are within the 1 – 2km distance, it’ll be easier for parents to enlist their children in one of the many schools and successfully gain entry for them.
