Project Details

The designers of Frasers Property’s high-profile new development Rivière, knew that they were not being commissioned to come up with the plans for an ordinary condo. For several reasons. Firstly, Rivière commands a very prominent position on the Singapore River. It not only needed to fit into its surroundings, it needed to enhance them. It is also in one of the most famous and iconic sites in Singapore’s recent history, Zouk nightclub. Finally, the buildings that housed the former nightclub are characteristic of the area, and link the cities past to its glittering future.

The designers have succeeded in achieving all of those goals. The project is made up of the existing warehouses which will be fully renovated and will house commercial units. New warehouse style blocks will accommodate serviced apartments, while towering over it all, and with views along the river and towards the CBD the two 36 storey towers will house the 455 residential units.

The facilities are based on two separate levels. On the ground floors there is a lap pool, aquatic garden, library/lounge, kids play area, gym steam room and entertainment lounge. There is also a sky deck located on the roof of the two blocks, 37 floors up. Both towers are connected via a sky bridge. The sky deck has a dining pavilion, BBQ area, teppanyaki dining pavilion and hot and cold spas.

1-bedroom – 560 sq ft

All units at Rivière come with the same high spec appliances and fittings. This may be a one bedder, but it certainly does not feel like a poor relation.

Riviere8

The kitchen is a good size, and very well designed. The breakfast bar frees space up for the living/dining area, which is large enough to have a small dining table and dining area, or even a study area.

Riviere9

In keeping with the rest of the apartment, the bedroom feels like it could be the master dropped in from a four bed unit.

2-bedroom – 818 sq ft

The kitchens have the same design as in the one bedroom units and make good use of space without being intrusive. All the kitchen cabinets come with internal melamine finish.

Riviere10

As well as the master en suite there is another separate bathroom.  Once again the master bedroom is a very nice size, easily being able to accommodate a queen or king sized bed.

3-bedroom – 1,249 sq ft

The 3 bed units on display have a wonderful layout. First of all, there is a small study area as you enter the unit. It may seem strange at first, but there is a lot of clever thinking behind it, as it results in a private space away from the main body of the home, and hence away from distractions.

Riviere13

The design of the living/dining room means it easily allows for two distinct areas.

Riviere15

The large kitchen is tucked away meaning the smells and sounds don’t interfere with the rest of the home.

Riviere14

Rivière comes with an impressive array of smart features, both internal and external.

4-bedroom 2,002 sq ft

All the four bedders come with a private lift. This also means you have a small foyer type area, which means you don’t walk straight into the apartment proper, giving you more privacy. When you do step inside, the first thing that hits you is the amount of space. These are big apartments, and the design makes full use of both the space, and the shape of the units.

Riviere3

The living/dining area really is impressive, and a full-length balcony running alongside it gives residents a lot more usable square footage. The dry kitchen gives another focus, as well as providing a breakfast bar, or even a bar, depending on your tastes.

Riviere4

Tucked out of the way is the wet Poggenpohl kitchen fully equipped with Gaggenau appliances.

Riviere6

The master bedroom comes with its own balcony, but it is the view in the other direction that perhaps sets it apart. The large en suite is separated from the bedroom by way of a glass wall, which opens the bathroom up to natural light and means you can soak in the large bath, while enjoying views out across Singapore.

Location

This part of River Valley is hard to beat. First of all, the development is right on the water. It is on the quieter, more tranquil, more sophisticated part of Robertson Quay, a couple of minutes’ walk from a lovely stretch of bars and restaurants. A little further down the river is the livelier part of Robertson, with more restaurants and bars. Then of course a little further on from that are Clarke and Boat Quays.

Riviere16

An equally short walk in the other direction is Zion Food Court and Great World City, with its international retail brands and Golden Village Cinema. By the time Rivière reaches TOP, Great World MRT will be up and running, providing the final piece of the jigsaw for this area.

The CBD and Botanic Gardens are equidistant apart, and both only a short ride away, as are Tiong Bahru, Holland Village, Dempsey Hill and Orchard Road.

Summary

The Rivière commands a prime location which more or less speaks for itself. Its architects have done a very good job in not simply complementing the area in which it stands, but in years to come this could well become, with its F&B units, a new focus for this part of the river.

The units themselves are also of a very high quality nature in terms of their look and design. There is no distinction in quality or the amount of effort and thought that has obviously gone into them, between the larger units and the one bedders.

They have a solid feel and look to them. Solid can sometimes be construed as being merely functional, staid, but that is certainly not the case here. With the Rivière that solidity portrays a fantastic base from which to live your life, or raise your family in one of the most exciting yet at the same time pleasant parts of the island.
