Bangkok, in the opinions of many market-watchers, continues to offer potentially lucrative property investment opportunities with the promise of strong rental yields and returns on capital appreciation.
If there is any indication that demand for Bangkok property as investment is on the rise, CBRE predicted that between 30 – 40 percent of purchases made at new condominium units in Bangkok last year were made by buy-to-rent investors, with 70 percent of units under construction in Downtown Bangkok being one-bedroom units or smaller as well as for two- and three-bedroom units.
This figure is set to grow, with more than 90 percent of residential tenants in Bangkok with rents in excess of THB20,000 per month, and the most recent figures showing that at the end of 2014, there were some 74,000 holders of work permits in Bangkok, a rise of more than 7 percent compared to the year before.
