my parents passed away and left a hdb for the 3 of us. and we are wondering if we can sell away the house and buy another resale or bto. How many names must we use for the house and will it affect our grants if one of us gets married?

Hi, you will need to use all your siblings name, and as such all of you are considered First timers and essential occupiers or co-owners. This means that when you guys get married in the future, you will have to write into HDB to appeal to remove your name from the HDB and will be considered second timer if you used any CPF grant or purchase BTO this time.

Hi Sir/Mdm,

Once you inherited the house, you would have considered to have taken 1 time of subsidy from HDB. If one of you is above the age of 35 years old, then I will suggest that you just use a single name to take over the house so that the rest can continue to enjoy the housing subsidy in the future.

Sorry to hear about the news, I hope you and family are managing well.

Yes to be eligible for orphans scheme, you and one sibling need to be included to form the family nucleus to be eligible to keep the inherited hdb. If not, you can sell away this flat and purchase another resale flat instead. It will not affect your first timer status since you are not taking grants to take over the flat or purchase the next flat.

Inheriting a house is considered taking a subsidy from HDB.
If one sibling is over 35 years old:
Use a single name to take over the house.
This allows other siblings to retain eligibility for future housing subsidies.
