My father (62 years old) has a fully paid by cash, 3 bedroom hdb which was bought 2 years ago. He wants to put my name (daugher, 31 years old) as a co-owner to the house as long as i'm still single. Will this affect my options for buying my own flat when i get married or would want to own my own flat when i'm 35? Will i have to pay him half of the house when my name is put as co-owner?

Hi, what is the rationale for adding you as a co-owner? It will result in more processes to be done in the future when you want to own your own flat.

Hi

May I know the reason for adding your name? It seems like an extra step which may affect your chances to buy your own house next time, as you may need to fulfil the MOP requirements for the next 3 years as well. There is no need to pay for the share if its a transfer of ownership by gift, but relevant buyer stamp duties will still apply based on the market value of the share.
