Dear JC,

sad to hear the passing on of your Grandfather.

For your case, if you are a Singapore Citizen you may retain the Private Property, however in your case you cannot retain as you are still under MOP for the HDB flat you bought.

If you are a PR, you have to dispose off the Private Property if your HDB is still under MOP, if it is not then you can only retain either one.

Feel free to contact me if you have other questions. Have a great day.

Hi,

1) Under current HDB policy, you are not allowed to own any interest in the inherited private property without completion of MOP.
2) However, since you are not the sole beneficiary. There is room for an appeal to retain your interest in the inherited property.
3) Provided you are an SC. If you are an SPR, then the chances of keeping your interest in the inherited property are very slim.
