i currently own 1 HDB. im applying for another BTO with my wife whose a PR 1st timer. we are considered 1st timer. i'll be selling my current house when the new BTO is completed. do i need to pay the 17% stamp duty? thanks.

Good morning,

You dont have to pay ABSD as you need to sign the undertaking to sell your existing home once yu take possession of another flat or new EC.

Dear Sir,

If you are transiting from 1 HDB to another HDB (BTO in this case), ABSD is not applicable so you dont have to worry about it. However, its good to plan the timeline and finances in advance so that you can minimise your cash outlay and transit smoothly without the need for an interim place to stay.

Hi,

1) There is no ABSD imposed when you are upgrading or downsizing an HDB flat.
2) If the current HDB flat you owned was not bought under BTO/SBF or resale HDB flat with a grant. Then you will not be subject to any resale levy
3) If (2) is positive, then you will be subject to resale levy on your current HDB flat type; 3-rm = $30k, 4-rm = $40k, 5-rm = $45k, EA/EM = $50k & EC = $55k. The amount will be halved if you bought as a single.
4) You also don't have to worry about the increment of GST because there is no GST imposed on property purchases since buyer stamp duty is in place.
