I am a recent graduate who has been employed full-time for 9 months now. My fiance is a full-time university student still who is expected tk graduate in 2024. When we first applied for BTO in July 2021, we had every intentions of registering as students and going through the deferred income route. Unfortunately because I had missed the 12 months mark (I graduated 30 June 2020), we were not categorised as such. Back then, I was still a SG United Trainee awaiting transition to full-time employement and was thus provided $0 grants as SGUT is not considered an employment. We decided to go ahead with the unit selection as we have heard from friends how considerably lucky we are to be able to select a good unit as first-timers. Now we are in the process of applying for HLE but it is expected that out HLE will not be the max loan as I am the sole income provider…we are quite worried about financing the remaining balance of purchase of about 100k. This is because we still have other costs to consider such as the wedding and renovation. I would like to know if there is any chance I will be able to appeal to HDB to be considered under the deferred income assessment scheme…does HDB offer any leniancy with requests such as these?
