Hi, currently me & my wife own a hdb & condo. If we were buy another property, we would be subject to additional 3% tax. Would it be better option if I would transfer my share of condo to my wife. So that we would not be subject to 3% tax. Both me and my wife are Singaporean. If so, what would cost involve ?

Hi Ernest,

Transferring of shares, in the eye of bank, they take it as a new sale as well. Which means you will still have to pay Stamp Duty to remove your name, and a new loan by your wife.

It will be no difference if you buy another condo with additional stamp duty.

Please feel free to drop me an email or call me directly for a non-obligation discussion, if you still have further questions.

Thank you & Best Regards
