Thanks, but I can right? And the reason you are advising me against it is due to the higher stamp duty?
Ans 1) If you don't mind paying slightly more on your stamp duty part (which is not advise)
there should not be any problem bec iras will tax whose ever is higher ,

Ans 2 )I think is still better to buy under your own name , so stamp duty that's is paid will not be that high , end of the day she is still your wife is not a big issues weather you put her name in or not . cheers hope this help ... Read More

Thanks, but if we really choose to put the new property under names, can we rent out the HDB without staying in it?
Afternoon Gary,

Under current HDB ruling, your partner is required to fulfill the MOP for her HDB unit. She can then purchase a private property with you but you will be liable for 7% ABSD as this purchase will her be second property in holding.

Hi Gary, yes you may co-own a private property with your partner provided the MOP period of the HDB is fulfilled and if both of you are Singaporeans. Do take note of the additional buyer stamp duty payable depending if you and your partner are Singaporeans or PRs as different percentage applies. Buying the private property individually and co-owning plays a big difference in the amount of stamp duty as well. There may be more than just surface issues that you consider like loan amount as well. Feel free to call me for a non-obligation discussion to explore further.
