Dear Guru, Recently I received a letter from IRAS appointing us (tenant) as an agent for the Property Tax Act, and asked to pay to the Comptroller of Property Tax. It said that we have to pay the tax on behalf of the owner from any further rent which may be held by us. In the contract, it is stated that we have to pay a certain amount (fixed) to the owner. So if we substract the amount by the tax paid, will it be accounted as breach of contract? It is stated that if by 7th day of the month the owner has not received that amount, he would be able to take over the house. In the contract it is also stated that the owner shall pay for their tax. We tried to contact the owner, but unable to do so. Please advice us on what to do. Thank you.
