Thanks for your query, sure you can DIY, but you probably could ask around your social circles, they would agree it is not worth the hassle, especially with current market sentiments. Hi Kelvin, sure you could DIY all by yourself. The only problem will be where are you going to locate interested buyers to your unit? If you are able to solve this, the rest will be easier. Good luck.

I believe you should have gotten the required answer by now, but I am just curious that why are you not engaging the professional to do the sale in a professional way since you are not even sure if you can do the sale on your own in the first place. Selling a place may seem easy in putting up advertisements and waiting for calls and fixing of appointments, but with the buyers being more updated with market trends and transactional data, the efficiency level of a salesperson who has the right tools, product knowledge, area knowledge and technical knowledge will definitely boost the chances of you selling your place at a reasonable price if not a premium. In 2015 alone, my small team has clocked in 6 landed sales and a handful of private apartments on top of HDB, we believe we are well prepared to take on the sales assignment of your properties available.

    I had two bad experienced where I was pressured to sell telling me the price might fall etc...if I don't sell at this price or my price is too high and not market rate.

    Imagine after just a few months later, my neighbor sold their unit at $100k more than mine.

    Dear Gary,

    Looking for an honest agent is not easy. More than often Agent just want to close the deal quickly to get their commission in the expense of the seller desire to sell at a higher price.

    It is hard to agent who have your interest.

Thanks for your response. I feel sorry reading about the bad experience, nevertheless, starting yourself out on a wrong note where you are unsure of whether you are allowed to do a DIY seems to put you in bad shape from the beginning and huge risk too.

I always felt that as a seller, he or she should do their due diligence on the market to decide on what their base price is for selling otherwise how to complement their sale with their post sales plan to move ahead. In your case, I am unsure how big a difference your neighbour unit is in comparison to yours (is it a landed property?) and what type of pressurising tactics were used on you to sell the place, I strongly believe that you should not treat all agents as the same but just be cautious. I have known of many fellow colleagues who became good friends to their clients after completing the assignments and I have also kept in good relations with my past clients until now therefore I believe these are signs of doing a good job for their clients.
