Some 1,000 Punggol residents had a glimpse of the 42,300 sq m integrated hub that is set to open in their town by 2021 during the project’s groundbreaking ceremony.
Featuring a new hawker centre and public library, the new Punggol Town Hub (PTH) will also bring together programmes and services from various agencies, reported Channel NewsAsia.

It will also house a childcare centre as well as the revamped Punggol Vista CC, which will be seven times bigger than the current void deck CC.
Situated opposite Waterway Point, PTH will sit right next to the Punggol Regional Sports Centre. It will be connected to Sam Kee LRT station, Punggol MRT and Punggol Town Square.
The cycling path around the new hub will be integrated with Punggol’s larger cycling network to help residents get active and lead healthy lifestyles.
Dr Janil Puthucheary, adviser to Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC Grassroots Organisation, noted that PTH is a source of cohesion and strength for the neighbourhood.
“The grassroots volunteers worked with the multiple government agencies for this town hub, which will also be an opportunity for the co-locating partners to have access to different types of facilities and work together on integrated programmes to better engage residents. Together, we can make Punggol a better home,” he said.
With this, grassroots advisers will consult with residents over the coming months to know what they would like to find in PTH while working with stakeholders to try and meet such needs.
