Hi,

May I know if I can rent a whole unit with the following conditions:?
- at least 2 bedroom
- good for married couple (expecting a baby)
- Budget is from 2000 to 3000 SGD
- around or near Telok Blangah
- flexible term (from Aug/Sep 2022 until Feb/March 2023)

Our current rented place will end its contract by Sept 2022 and we need to moved as the owner sold the property. Also we will be moving out of Singapore by Feb-March next year so we need a short/flexible term of from at least 6 months and not 1year.

Thank you for those anyone who could help us.

Hi Alexis,

The price range is quite challenging given current rental climate where even 2 bedrooms HDB flats are rented out at $3,000 range, on top of the short term requirement you have in place where most landlords are now looking to lock in rental with 2 years lease instead of 1 year lease riding on the buoyant market.

I expect your next home search to be quite challenging unless you can adjust certain requirements that you have.

Hi Geryl, Thanks a lot for replying to me, I really appreciated it. I acknowledge the difficulty of looking for property with such conditions. The only certain that I won't be able to change is that we will be leaving Singapore for good by Feb 2023. We are really looking for a short term - 6 months (Sep 2022 - Feb 2023). Aside from that, my wife is currently pregnant and expecting to deliver around Nov this year. so we are trying to find place now that is near to her office that's why it would be best if the place is near Telok Blangah. May I know if we can't find a short term, is there a possibility to end a contract (e.g. 1 year) earlier as long as we notify the landlord 2-3 months earlier of the date we will be leaving Singapore? That they will agree that we won't be paying the succeeding months of the 1-2 year. We are open to consider other conditions (e.g. budget - higher rent) set by Landlord as long as we will not be obligated to pay the succeeding months (March 2023 onwards) if their chosen lease is 1 or 2 years. Hoping for your great advice again. Thank you. Regards, Alexis
