My lease with landlord was done and starting from 2012 we did not sign any new lease.
On 29 Sep 2012,after landlord received my Oct rental,he told me to move out by 30 Nov as he will sell the flat.
On 3 Oct I told him I would move out before 4 Nov and hang over keys/room on 4 Nov because I moved in on the date of 4th couple years ago,so I can actually stay until 3rd of month
After I passed key to him,he refused to return deposit of 1 month rent,he said according to SG laws,he does not need to return deposit. I can choose stay 1 more month but he won’t return me deposit
I was shocked because he just told me this after I already cleaned room and after passing back keys
I tried to get money back, and he started to say he told me I can stay until 30 Nov when 5 Oct I told him I would move out.In fact he knew I would move out on 6 Nov. There is no sense he forced me to stay until 30 Nov, esp we were not bound by lease
So according to law,can landlord keep deposit based on above?
