Hi, my husband is 35 never owns a flat before.
While for myself I have contributed my name and cpf to my parents house.
We have been renting since we got married. And now we need to buy our own house but unfortunately my parents insist not to remove my name from the flat.

Is there any possibility for my husband to buy his own flat and me as an occupier?

Dear madam,

I hear your problem, basing on the home ownership criteria for HDB, your name must be removed from the existing HDB before your husband can be eligible to purchase a resale HDB under his sole ownership and you being as essential occupier since both of you are married.

I feel that it will be important to hear out your parents on their views why they insist in not removing your name from the flat and communicate to them the concerns you have in retaining the name in the existing flat.

Are your parents contributing to the loan repayment of this flat? Should your name be removed from this flat, will your parents be able to continue financing the flat?

I have been in the real estate business since 2009, with more than 10years of experience serving the Singapore real estate market.

I am very active in the residential segment of Singapore real estate market, having transacted hundreds of deals from HDBs to private condominiums and landed properties in Singapore, and have handled many unique cases in sales and purchases as well as rental deals.

Over the years, I have also established a network reaching out to more than 9,400 expatriates, bringing my market presence to both in and outside of Singapore. This has created an additional exposure when I manage my client's portfolios, on top of the conventional on and offline platforms, where other estate agents are relying on. This has allowed me to consistently convert leads into results.

With an evolving market, where change is the only constant, I have also been investing in upgrading of my knowledge and skills sets to improve myself and meet the demands of current and future market.

Hi Mdm,

Since both of you are already married, your husband will not be able to purchase a HDB flat without your name either as an owner or occupier. Renting in the long run is not a wise option and your husband may want to consider getting a private property instead. The private property can be for own stay or to rent out to generate additional passive income for you.

Please feel free to contact me so that I can gather more information from you and provide you with better recommendations!

Hi Mdm,

It will not be possible to do so given that both of you are married. Your name must be removed from your parent's flat before he is able to make a purchase with either you as an occupier or as a co-owner.

I will be happy to understand the situation further and maybe propose some other alternatives for your consideration based on your current circumstances.

Please feel free to get in touch with me directly for more prompt responses should you require further clarification and assistance. Have an awesome day ahead!

Hi,

From the info provided. My guess is your parents are not able to finance the current flat without your financial input.

1) My suggestion is to have a casual chat with them to consider either a smaller flat or even to opt for 2-rm HDB BTO.
2-rm Flexi BTO is generally less than $150k, other than those mature estate.
You may find the info:
https://www.hdb.gov.sg/cs/infoweb/residential/buying-a-flat/new/eligibility/2-room-flexi-flat

Latest 2-rm Flexi BTO price:
https://esales.hdb.gov.sg/bp25/launch/20nov/bto/20NOVBTOBH_page_9483/pricing.html

2) Upon successfully getting another flat, you may then able to make the next move. Either stay in the current flat or to sell and buy another.

Hope the above answer to your main concerns, but if there are more query, please feel free to contact me at 90110636  , or email: ling.ck7@gmail.com if more information is needed.
I'll be glad to assist.

Hi Maam

Unfortunately it is not possible to do so as HDB does not allow married couples to own more that 1 HDB as an entity. I am specialised in HDB transactions. Do contact me at 93375051  for a free and non obligatory discussion on this.
