District 18 comprising Pasir Ris and Tampines has developed into a hotspot for recreational activities catered specially for families. Today, district 18 is a top choice for families due to its wide array of family-centred recreational facilities and amenities. In particular, Pasir Ris has such recreation areas like the NTUC Downtown East with facilities such as chalets and theme parks like Wild Wild Wet; perfect for a weekend getaway. Tampines also provides several family-related shopping areas like the IKEA and Courts outlets. Moreover, several community parks also surround Tampines, making it a great place for families to have a relaxing stroll or workout together. These would include Tampines North Park, Tampines Leisure Park, Tampines Central Park and the Festival Park to name a few. This has incited several private residential projects including Executive Condominiums (EC) and landed properties to be implemented over the years. These include the Sea Horizon, a 495-unit, 99-year leasehold EC located in Pasir Ris expected to be completed in 2017.
