(1) HDB’s guidelines are firm. Once the application is submitted, changing or replacing applicants is generally not allowed. Any exception requires a formal appeal, and approval is not guaranteed.
(2) Getting married during the Minimum Occupation Period is allowed. Marriage itself does not breach HDB rules.
(3) If your partner already owns a BTO flat, she must make a clear choice. She cannot keep that flat and proceed with marriage under another BTO at the same time.
(4) If uncertainty over housing is influencing marriage decisions, it may be worth reflecting on how secure and committed the relationship truly is.
(5) Giving up a BTO during MOP can trigger penalties. This may affect future eligibility, including becoming a co-applicant later, as multiple HDB conditions could be violated.
(6) The safest approach is to consult HDB directly on each issue. Flat ownership cannot be transferred or rearranged casually, and every case is assessed strictly.
Summary: HDB policies are structured, inflexible, and consequence-based. Major life decisions should be aligned carefully with these rules to avoid long-term limitations.
