Great place to live with kids - Expat Family

Posted by CW on May 15, 2012

Have lived here for 4 months, with 2 children aged 5 and 14 from Australia. Great views, pool is always super clean and well maintained. Great facilities, friendly security guards, lots of handy shops around and close to MRT. Jalan Besar stadium just behind Citylights and is a great place to take the kids to see a 1st grade soccer match. Spacious units with floor to ceiling windows and good sized bedrooms. Have never felt unsafe around here, everyone is very friendly and would recommend to any expat families. Australian International School bus picks up kids at the front gate. Very accessible to many great places in Singapore. Highly recommended

Expat view

Posted by V on Feb 17, 2011

Been living here for 3 years, love it. Location, facilities, convienence to get to work (17min from my door to tanjong pagar MRT office door). Moved from the Clark Quay area, riverwalk with ocean view, high floors. Have the same feel, minus the club music each night ; ) and price. But on the down side, there's a hotel being put across the street, but that should past in couple month. At least it will have more shops and food in there. As for the locals and workers walking around, I like the local feel, food, shops, community center, etc. don't have family, but looks like all the kids in the pool are having fun all the time. Lastly, I drive, ride motorcycle...plenty of parking : )

Not For Ladies

Posted by jolin tay on Jul 21, 2010

Am Asian expat female and was looking for a place to rent. I really like the estate itself, convenient and full of facilities. But as I was walking to the MRT station to take a MRT back to my current place (about 8pm on a weekday night), the walk, although short, was a bit scary as the area is full of foreign workers who clog the pedestrian walkways and I was forced to squeeze past them. For the first time in Singapore, I felt unsafe.

I told my friend about it and he joined me to see it again on a Sunday afternoon. It was much worse as the workers were sitting around and making wolf whistles at anyone in a skirt.

It is a nice estate, great pity about the location.

It's almost perfect!

Posted by Norteklaser on Mar 2, 2010

All the reviews here are actually quite correct. In addition, for a damn lazy person like me, having a neighborhood bakery outside that sells quality bread at a very good price, 2 7-11s outside and behind for necessities and snacks in the middle of the night, a Prime supermarket and nice coffeeshops nearby in short walking distance (about 3 to 5 mins awway) without having to take the train is a HUGE plus.

They are building a hotel outside that is supposed to be a 4 star hotel. I hope they have good amenities like laundry and video and car rental! Then the place will be perfect.

Another thing I like is that i didn't have to pay for wasteful space like balconies and air shelter. I know some people like them, but I'd personally rather not pay for these.

Also takes me 20 mins to get to work from door to desk, and most of that time is to walk from Raffles MRT to my office! Don't think I'd ever move from this place.

The one thing I didn't like is that I am not sure when they open the side gate and when they keep it closed. It's been launched for more than a year, so don't know why they don't keep the side gate open. Have to find some time to talk to management about it!

Overpriced Condo

Posted by AGD on Feb 3, 2010

I beg to differ with some comments posted here.

In my honest opinion, I feel that although Citylights has a good location the feeling I experienced when I visited it recently was of being cramp and lacking that spacious feel.

The ammenities are also located haphazardly and the entrance to the Condo lacks posh appeal.

Also, being a 99 year condo, the units are overpriced now.

Real let down.

A beautiful name plus great location

Posted by Steve Chan on Nov 17, 2009

Not many 99 year leasehold projects are that successful in terms of commanding a good sales price and a high rental rate.
Much regret the time when I was offerred a price about the same as City Square during the launch period. City Square is doing quite ok but I think Citylights has scored better in design, appeal and surroundings. Fireworks during National days comes as a bonus for being in the right place at the right time.

SHOPPING CONVENIENCE & YEAR-ROUND FIREWORKS!

Posted by E K on Nov 4, 2009

Shopping & buying groceries' convenience are getting convenient at this place. There is a free shuttle-service at the Citylights' entrance to the new City Square Mega Mall just behind. Bugis Junction Shopping Mall is just 1 MRT station away. Suntec Shopping Mall is just 2 MRT stations away.

All-year-round at Citylights, residents get to enjoy beautiful fireworks from their windows during festivities. Unblocked at the sea-facing front, fireworks illuminate the sky at the coastal line of National Stadium, Marina Bay Golf Course, Sheares Bridge or Marina Bay during different festivals. For the corner units, occupants get the added views of fireworks at the back of their units during Deepavali at Little India and festivities at Orchard Rd. Quite a celebrative and upbeat place!

Good Investment - World-class Sports Hub

Posted by Wayne G on Oct 24, 2009

Rated as one of most popular condos, Citylights' superb location is gifted with potential for high capital appreciation.

The condo sits right in front of the future Singapore Sports Hub next to the Marina Bay IR area. The 35-ha sports hub will cover world-class sports facilities, hotels, entertainment and lifestyle facilites.

Apparently, Citylights commands one of the hightest rental yields in the city area.

The units are easily rented out. The beauty of this condo is almost every unit offers pool, bay or alluring sea views.
Much sought after by western working expatriates, it is near to business districts like Suntec & Raffles Place with MRT at doorsteps. For frequent business travelers, the airport is a mere 15 mins via major expressways.

Citylights is well located in close proximity to Bugis Junction & Suntec City shopping centres, National Stadium, Kallang Sea Sports Centre, Marina Golf Course, Arts Centre, heritage places and bars/eateries served in quaint conservation shophouses in nearby Arab Street.

Here, urbanites enjoy the dynamics of urban living as the condo offers full recreational facilities. At the same time, the landscaping permeates an air of quiet relaxation likened to a retreat hidden in the busy city.

Given the full amenities, the average $250 maintenance fee including one car-park lot is considerably low relative to other condos in the city. The low maintenance fee, a draw to investors, is made possible borne by the 600 units.

With unique advantages aplenty, it is not difficult to see why Citylights is popular with investors.

Expatriates' living with nice Sea & Bayviews

Posted by Trevis on Sep 16, 2009

This condo is majorly occupied by single western expatriates. Possibly because it's one of the few city condos with nice unblocked sea & bay views coupled with commuting convenience. MRT right at doorsteps. Located in the city, yet rare with no CBD charges for cab fare. Travelling to the airport is fast via the expressway. It's near to business districts like Suntec City & Raffles Place. Not so much a family condo. More ideal for expatriates' living. A good place for investments too.

Luxurious & Convenient

Posted by Steve S.K on Feb 22, 2009

The surrounding area is pretty good. The MRT is a stone throw away. MRT stops to many different shopping centres. Good facilities but the swimming pool is dangerous for families living on ground floor. Overall it's quite alright. Though it's overpriced.

excellent location

Posted by hdb owner on Nov 20, 2008

Even though facilities and space within the condo are not much, but the location is too good to live. MRT just at doorstep, bus stops infront and behind with many directions to East/West/North/South of Singapore...nearly located at the traffic centre all the way!

Citylights

Posted by Kelvin Teo on Nov 1, 2008

Located near city and next to MRT station. Full facilities incl near olympic size pool, gym, tennis. The corridor outside the unit is very narrow and the public area are not nicely maintained. Those high floor units commands very god city/bay views.

but no shopping centre nearby is a problem. Yet overpriced.
