Ang Mo Kio

Ang Mo Kio literally means ‘Westerner's bridge' in Hokkien, a term derived from Westerners who had settled in this region in the early days. The area has very recently undergone extensive redevelopment, of which residential development plans account for a majority. The residential segment with HDB estates comprising of apartment and condominium blocks available throughout the region, has achieved immense popularity. Over 54,000 housing units serve the residential purposes of about 280,000 local residents.
Bedok

Bedok is named after the Malay word ‘bedoh', a type of slit drum used for calling the common people to attend prayers at the mosque. In fact this type of drum was commonly used by the mosques as late as the 1950s. In the recent years many residential areas have grown up in this prominent Singaporean region. Bedok New Town is a recent development to this region covering an area of about 9.4 km2. It is a hilly region with a calm and quiet locale and features landscaped parks and sports complexes.
Bishan

Bishan HDB Estate is situated in the Central region of Singapore. Its central location and easy accessibility from other parts of the country has made the estate highly popular among property buyers. Prices of the HDB units are also higher than that of other regions which are primarily due to their prime location and good conditions. A total of 19,000 flats, including 1,500 executive flats, constitute the Bishan HDB Estate. The most common flats are of 3 rooms, 4 rooms and 5 rooms, of which the 4 room flats are sold most. An estimated 74,000 residents live in this HDB estate.
Bukit Batok

Bukit Batok is a fairly new and developed region which falls under the Bukit Batok Planning Area. The region was the base for several industries, including Ford Motor Works and Hume Industries in the 1950s. During 1970s, the region witnessed a development initiative from the government of Singapore, and by the 80s HDB estates started to develop in the area. Today Bukit Batok is a fairly developed region, and is mainly used for residential purposes. HDB estates, condominiums, apartments and other residential units have come up in a large way. The largest and most prominent among them is the Bukit Batok New Town area. Most of the residential units are 3 or 4 room flats, numbering up to about 31,000 and serving the residential purpose of about 120,000 individuals.
