Open Question
How do you know if the agent paid the stamp duty? We gave him the money but haven't received a stamped copy of the tenancy agreement. Is there a way to check and confirm it was paid? This agent is not very responsive, unfortunately. We have asked him for a stamped copy but haven't heard from him.

If you know the agent's details n registration number, call the agent's agency. Check with the landlord as well if possible. You should have a copy of the stamped agreements n receipt as well.

When the agent has done the stamp duty for the tenancy agreement, a copy of the stamp duty cetificate must be given back to the landlord and the tenants for their necessary retention. The stamp duty certificate will indicate the property address, landlord & tenant names and particulars (NRIC or Passport No.) and also the amount of the stamp duty fee paid.
