Parents currently own a fully paid for, 16 years old 5 rm HDB. I plan to purchase a 3 Gen BTO with wife and mother. Is it possible for my mum to relinquish ownership of the current 5 rm to my dad so i could use her name to apply for 3 gen BTO?

Hi,

Since 2016, decoupling is no longer allowed for HDB flat, unless there is a change in life/event that causes the change of ownership.

In this case, your idea does not work. The other option would be to look for resale adjoined flat in order to accommodate 2 families under 1 roof.

Hope the above answer to your main concerns, but if there are more queries, do not hesitate and feel free to contact me at 90110636 , or email: ling.ck7@gmail.com if more information is needed.
I'll be glad to assist.

Best regards

Hi Sir,

Unfortunately, it does not work this way. If you were to apply for a 3 Gen flat, your parents will have to sell off their 5RM HDB flat.

Should you need any further assistance in matters relating to property, please contact me at my mobile 9748 6305 . I will be happy to assess and share with you the possibilities for you and your partner in the current market.

Thank you.

Best regards,
