Hi,

I believe you have got the rules all mixed up.

Regardless of what nationality, everyone will have to pay Buyer Stamp Duty (BSD) should they purchase any type of properties, be it HDB or condo. Even if you sell off your HDB, you will still need to pay BSD on your next purchase.

However, do take note that since you're buying a matrimonial home, you do not need to pay any Additional Buyer Stamp Duty (ABSD).

Hi,

BSD applies for all property purchases, regardless of hdb or condo. What you probably heard was ABSD (additional buyer stamp duty) component, which will apply if you buy 1st without selling.

The Buyer's stamp duty are payable for anyone who purchase a property in Singapore.

You may wish to consider a Private Property that is priced almost the same range as an EC.
