If I buy a resale hdb flat now and don't own a private property, I believe I can still apply for a new hdb flat/EC as second timer. However, if my new flat/EC comes before I have fulfilled my MOP, can I still go ahead with the purchase of the new flat or EC? Thanks

Hi,

Let me clarify your understanding.

Provided you meet all the eligibility conditions, you can only apply for a new HDB BTO flat or a new EC after you have meet your 5-year MOP for the resale flat that you buy.

Do take note that should you take a grant on your resale flat, you will be considered as a second timer, and will be liable to pay a resale levy upon the sale of your resale flat 5 years later.

Good evening,

You might have been fed with the wrong information. Even if you purchased resale HDB unit without grant and with cash, you will still be required to fulfill the MOP requirement before you are eligible to submit your application for BTO or new EC.

Hi,

1st part of your posting is accurate and correct.
2nd part is incorrect.

You have to fulfill MOP before you can apply for BTO or purchase a new EC.

Thus there are no situation where your BTO/new EC ready for key collection during your MOP.
