I own a HDB flat in Singapore but have not met the MOP and was posted overseas to work a few years back. I have now migrated and am working overseas and intend to buy a property overseas... Will i be affected by any HDB ruling? what do i need to do now and when i return to Singapore for good in the near future?

Morning W,

You have migrated overseas to work when your unit have not fulfilled MOP. Hence the possible case would be that you have left your family back in Singapore or you have left for your work commitment with your family, without application for renting out your unit during your absence.

Whatever the case is, upon the purchase of your HDB unit, you have being notified that you are not allowed to have any interest on other private property within your MOP period. Hence if you choose to purchase private property overseas, depending on location, you might get it but that does not warrant that HDB will not find out about it and proceed for compulsory acquisition.
