I have recently gotten married and am currently living in a Condo; which is under my husband's as well as his parents' names. Under the recent change in HDB rules & regulations, my husband & I are not able to purchase a HDB flat (New or Resale). Our only option to get a place of our own would be a private apartment. If we choose to withdraw my husband's name from the current condo, leaving the apartment to be under his parents' names, I assume we would both then be able to purchase a new HDB flat. However, my Question is, some day in the future, when our parents passed, would he be able to inherit the condo back again? My husband is servicing the mortgage. With the HDB Law prohibiting HDB owners to own a Private property, can we put our names to the condo in the future when our parents pass and will the condo to us - even if we are owners of a HDB flat then? We are thinking of options to get a new place; & leave the current condo for our parents to live in.
