I am looking to buy an EC as 2nd timer applicant. However im still tied down by the 5 year MOP, which is due Feb 2013 (a few months away). Is there any possibility that i can sell my existing flat & buy the EC as well? i took a HDB loan & $40k grant.

Hi, you will have to wait until your 5 year MOP is over before you can sign on any Option to Purchase.

Hi,

You will need to wait for the MOP of 5 years for your current flat to be up before you can even submit an application to buy a new EC.

There is no resale levy for buying a new EC so you do not need to worry about the grant of $40k which you had gotten but you will not be entitled to the 1st timer $30k grant for buying the new EC.

Pls note that if you still have an outstanding loan with HDB, the 2nd loan from the bank can only loan you up to 60%.

Hi Clueless,

Theoretically, you have to wait till your MOP is up.

If MOP is only few months away, you can write in to HDB to appeal, to allow you to apply for new flat. Whether HDB will approve your case is base on case by case basis. I have heard some of the buyers (with few months left) appeal and got approved to buy an EC.

So, no harm trying. Write in to HDB to appeal. Once if your case is approved, do contact me. I can bring you around to see some EC balance units left or new launches.
