I am looking to buy a condo. I am currentlty owning a HDB bought from open market and stayed for 5 years.
The question is "Am I allowed to rent out my whole hdb unit and owning a condo same time?"
I've checked HDB web site and CAN NOT find anything about owning a condo and renting out whole hdb unit same time.

Dear Jeremiah,

Since you have already stayed for 5years, there will be absolutely no problems buying a condo and renting out the entire hdb flat.

Allow me to make applications on behalf of yourself and the potential tenants to HDB.

I would be more concerned in the financial planning part if u decided to buy the condo using CPF when u are servicing your HDB with HDB loan currently. CPF would requires yourself to set aside $117k as Minimum Sum if u are 55years, or $58,500 if are below 55years old.

Please do let me know your thoughts and also allow myself an opportunity to present to yourself this software which can identify all units for sale in a particular project during a particular timeframe.

Good day to you Jeremiah,

the answer to your question is YES. You can rent out your HDB flat and stay in a condo if the MOP has been met.

HDB Owners may sublet their flat if they have met the minimum occupation period:

1. For non-subsidised flats (flats purchased from the open market without a CPF housing grant), flat owners must have occupied their flat for at least 3 years;

2. For subsidised flats (flats purchased directly from the HDB or from the open market with a CPF housing grant), flat owners must have occupied their flat for at least 5 years.

Flat owners who meet the eligibility requirements above and who concurrently own a private property, are allowed to stay in the private property and sublet the HDB flat.
