Is there anyway to cancel the tenancy earlier so that I can move in after purchase?
You will have to propose to seller that you will like to purchase with vacant possession so he has to break lease with the tenants if not I am afraid you will have to purchase with tenancy.
Actually you should not have viewed the unit at the first place if you are looking for immediate occupation. Perhaps if this unit doesnt work for you, I am afraid you will have to keep on looking.

For a unit that is selling with tenancy, it will be recorded in the Option to Purchase the new owner will have to honour the tenancy agreement and therefore it will not be possible to terminate the tenant's lease early.
However, it is still possible to explore this possibility with the existing tenants to see if you can negotiate for a win-win situation for both parties, ie finding a cheaper place for the tenant to move to while compensating the tenant for an early termination.
