Hi,

For the current HDB, is it jointly owned by 2 owners? If so, to buy 2nd property, you need to pay ABSD for the next property. You can only buy 2nd residential property if there is a singaporean owner in the HDB. The ABSD for 2nd property is at least 20% for Singaporeans.

Since your HDB is under a SC/SPR, it should be considered a Singapore Citizen household, therefore you are eligible to purchase another private residential property, however, the Additional Buyer's Stamp Duty is at 30% for 2nd residential property should you decide to retain the existing HDB. You will need to ensure that you have sufficient funds for the stamp duties payable on top of having sufficient funds for downpayment basing on the amount of loan you are eligible for.

For locations, most condos which are near amenities will be easy to rent out, depending on the conditions and price expected.
