Hi I think it all depend on the extent of sacrifices that parent are willing to do when their kids start Primary 1. You might also want to consider renting out your HDB since it is near the MRT and rent a Condo near the school before registration. I am Bryan from ERA, father of a 2 year old. Nowadays staying close to good schools does not guarantee that the child will get in. So it really depends how much hope you want to put in. I think maybe you should write on a piece of paper the pros and cons, you will be able to see a clearer picture. Some condos are close to a few good schools, some just close to one, many many different factors.

Dear parent,

Having registered both my boys successfully into the preferred choice of my wife and me, I must say that I feel a lot for parents who made the sacrifices in order to enrol their children into a school which they prefer, either moving house or parent volunteering and etc but yet still could not secure a place for the child. To move or not, or perhaps to sell or not will greatly depends on your priority for your family. Like what Bryan has indicated, even after doing all the sacrifices, you are not guaranteed a place in the school. So what happens thereafter? Of course, your chance will be zero if you do not even try, but is it all worthwhile to do so is only able to be answered by yourself and your family.
