Hi I'm currently in this situation.
1. My dad is a single parent when I (21 then) joint name with him to apply for a 'Reoffer of Balance' Flat and got one 3 room flat. The flat was paid with down payment using both my dad and I CPF, but I'm the one financing it 100%. We are both the owner and co-owners in the hdb page.
2. House has now MOP and we are going to sell it.
3. I am getting a resale with my boyfriend.

I want to understand, do I still get to enjoy the benefit of a first-timer despite me having owned a hdb with my dad? Will HDB give me the grants offered to first-timer? I saw that 2022 hdb pushed out the HFE and grant changes and read somewhere that if a child gets a hdb with the single parent, he/she will not be treated as a second timer. Please advice, thanks.

Hi there, it depends on if your father is the main owner of the HDB and also if he has gotten any grants or new flats before. I have a similar case where the son got an BTO with his mum and proceed to purchase a resale HDB after which. I did helped them appeal for full grant successfully with terms and condition. do drop me a text/call for a more detailed discussion and I may just be able to point you in the right direction.

Hi,

1) It is obvious you had enjoyed a subsidize from the govt by buying SBF (Sales of Balance Flat).
2) You will still be able to enjoy the family grant if your boyfriend is a first-timer.
3) You can see the details as follow on family grant:
At least 1 core applicant or core occupier is a first-timer to receive the housing grant. First-timer core applicants and/ or occupiers must not have taken any housing subsidy before.

4) You may apply for an HFE with your boyfriend to see whether the grant is available as stated on the web.
