hi, I am single and below 35yrs old. If my monthly income is about 5k and i am interested in investing in a private property. Is it feasible? Can i buy it with my parents? We live in a HDB flat now and we will want to keep the HDB flat at the same time. Is it possible?

Afternoon,

With $5k income, the bank should be able to loan you around $500k plus. TO purchase private property, you need to have 5% cash and remaining 15% in CPF / CPF + Cash / Cash. Hence depending on how much cash and CPF you have in hand, buying a private property might be possible.
On the flip side, to purchase HDB unit with your parents and to keep the existing HDB unit is impossible.

Hi,

I think the first thing that you need to do first would be to determine

1. How much loan can you get
2. Are you comfortable with the cash upfront?
3. How much loan will you be paying after purchase
4. What are the risk, potential you are looking at?

You can keep the HDB and buy another private property if you have fufilled the 5 years period. However, i strongly advise that you clear the financial part first. No point in making in investment in private property only to make a loss..
