Hi, I am a 55 year old divorcee. I would like to apply for 4 room BTO (second time applicant), which means I need to form a family nucleus. If I list my 24 year old kid as essential occupier and remove her as essential occupier after MOP (5 years), can i still retain my 4 room BTO?

Saw the last paragraph in this link which confuses me:
"You can remove the names of the existing occupiers from the flat if they are no longer staying in the flat and if it does not affect your eligibility to retain the flat under the eligibility scheme."

For example, the removal may mean that you no longer fulfil the criteria of a family nucleus, rendering you ineligible to retain your flat under the eligibility scheme.

Hi,

1) Yes, you are absolutely correct that you must have a family nucleus to be eligible to apply for the BTO/SBF.
2) However since your daughter is the only essential occupier in this flat. Thus it changes your status from family to single assuming only 2 of you occupy the flat.
3) By right you won't be allowed to keep the flat after she got married and intend to buy her own flat.
4) You will have to appeal to the HDB to keep your flat under a single citizen scheme. The HDB will deal with it on a case-by-case basis, thus unable to tell whether it will be approved.
5) You won't have to face such a situation if you buy a resale HDB flat.
