Hi guys,
I am writing here to seek some advice regarding a potential home purchase in Singapore. I am a Singaporean Citizen currently based in Hong Kong but I am looking to return to Singapore in maybe 2 - 3 years time.
While I am not yet married, this will be a likelihood in the near future. My wife-to-be is a dual Hong Kong and British Citizen and she would like to return to Singapore with me. As such, we are faced with a dilemma on how we can purchase a property in Singapore together. This will be our first property but as I am aware foreigners are slapped with 15% ABSD.
How would this work out given that we would ideally like the property to be in both our names but we would also like to avoid the foreigner stamp duty if possible. Some advice would be great. Additionally, as we are looking to return only in a few years, our aim is to secure a new development (preferably East Singapore) which would TOP around then.
Regards and thank you for your time,
Bryan Chen
