Hi Gurus,
I have been renting a condo for 2 years and my lease is expiring in April. When I moved in I paid the owner security deposit equal to 2 month's rent which I would like to offset with the outstanding rent but the landlady doesnt agee. I understand that my TA states:"...provided that upon the expiration of the tenancy granted if the Tenant shall have duly performed and observed the stipulations and agreements the said sum of S$xxx shall be repaid without interest to the Tenant but otherwise the same or part thereof shall be used by the Landlord to offset any payments owing by the Tenant without prejudice to the right of the Landlord to recover all monies which may become due or payable by the Tenant under this Agreement." My concern is, given that my landlady is an extremely difficult person, what protection do I have if she doesnt return me my security deposit at all once I move out? Also, what can she do if I dont pay her next 2 month's rent ? Really appreciate you help!
