Hi Jimmy,

Yes you can go ahead with such ownership arrangement but do take note as you are not the owner, you cant use your CPF OA funds to pay the mortgage and only your wife's sole income will be taken into consideration for loan assessment.

After MOP, you can proceed to purchase a private property as your first purchase.

By the way, will both of you keen to meet to discuss and explore your options? Perhaps you will realise more options at this moment.

Hi,

As of current rules, yes you can do that.

However, as rules are implemented by the Government from time to time, there is no guarantee to say that you can purchase a private in the future (3/4 years BTO + 5 years MOP = 9 years later) without having to pay any ABSD.

We will never know what is it going to be 9 years later. Could ABSD been totally aborted by then? Or could ABSD apply to even "first timer" Singaporeans whose spouse owns a HDB? Only time will tell.

Should you need any further assistance in matters relating to property, please contact me at my mobile 9748 6305  . I will be happy to assess and share with you the possibilities for you in the current market.

Thank you.

Best regards,
Robbie Chen

If your wife's sole income is able to finance a HDB flat, and you plan to purchase a 2nd property in the near future, I do have a proposal which you may interested in. Let's take this discussion further.
