Hi, My recommendation would be residing in River Valley area, especially near Robertson Quay area. Clark Quay is 5-10minutes walk & Boat Quay in 15minutes walk away. There are many new as well as established resturants and bars along the Singapore River with a good mix of locals & expat crowd. Moreover, the slightly higher rental would be offset by the lower taxi fares based on distance as compared if you were to stay in the suburbs.

Hi, thank you for your enquiry and i am pleased to answer your question.

Well, for a single person in your twenties, the best place is around Mohammad Sultan. There are so many pubs and clubs around there and besides that, you can easily get a place nearby balestier. May I know what is your choice of living? Are you looking at Condo or HDB? Do let me know your preference and your budget. I will source as soon as possible. You may contact me at 9327 2614 (Mel). Between, have a great week ahead!

Not only that you may also enjoy the night spot like pub and restaurant at Katong area.

Dear Anonymous Expat,

Greetings!

I've been an expat when I was in my late 20s, and lived in the heart of the city (in Hong Kong). It is great if:

1) Getting from point A to B has to be zippy
2) You frequently entertain, wine & dine

However, I found it nice to get away from the city, especially if you work there as well.

The East Coast area is a very nice one. Here're some points for consideration:

1) You can get to both the city and airport in as fast as 7 mins.

2) You are a few minutes walk from the beach, where you can have breakfast/coffee/dinner, roller blade, cycle and jog, hang out with friends and family, just to name a few

3) It is a popular expat enclave, and the neighbourhood has a slightly laid back style. This is a nice contrast from the hustle and bustle of city life

4) East Coast area is renowned for its private properties and good food. This place resonates with good vibes with everyone you talk to.

5) BusPlus services (for e.g. 541) takes you to the city for just over S$4. This service is as comfortable as taxi but much more affordable. Alternatively, you can take advantage of the shuttle bus services that take you to the nearest MRT stations in 5-10 minutes.

6) Last but not least, the rental is lower than that in the city, but gives you more in terms of overall lifestyle.

Hope the above helps, and do feel free to contact me if you have any question.

Best Regards,
Jasmine Vincent
