The troubles are yet to be over for business operators at Turf City mall despite the issuance of a High Court injunction allowing them to continue with their businesses during the month-long changeover of master tenants.
However, just one day after the expiry of the outgoing master tenant’s lease, a few problems have emerged.
Lights in the mall’s common areas were turned off and dustbins throughout the complex had been taken away, as witnessed by The Straits Times during a visit.
Turf City sub-tenants said the lack of dustbins and lighting is a health and safety hazard.
The injunction, issued in January, allows sub-tenants who wish to renew their leases under the new landlord to stay past the 31 January deadline.
The tenure of Cogent Land Capital, the new master lease holder starts on 1 March. This created a month-long limbo for businesses renewing their leases.
