Based on the new rates, each homeowner can save from S$12 to S$96 a year on conservancy fees, depending on the size of the property.
An owner of an executive flat in the Aljunied estate, for example, will pay S$77.50 per month starting September, instead of S$83.50.
According to The Strait Times, the council was able to charge lower rates because of cost-effective measures, such as energy-saving devices.
AMK will also install LED lamps in over 250 blocks under its management, starting 1 October 2011.
Previously managed by the Pasir Ris-Punggol and Aljunied-Hougang town councils, the areas were absorbed by Ang Mo Kio GRC after electoral boundaries were redrawn following the 7 May General Election.
Meanwhile, the town council has launched a branch office in Hougang Avenue 4. It will also open another branch in Fernvale Road, Sengkang by October.
These facilities were launched to allow residents to pay conservancy charges at a location close to their homes.
Residents can also make payments through SAM kiosks and AXS machines.
