Phase One of the project covers 222 acres of land, with construction due for completion by 2015. With a development cost of S$425 million, Phase One will feature a luxury resort and serviced villas, a dedicated multi-model transportation terminal, world class marina and lagoon, as well as amenities for entertainment, retail, night-life and F&B.
Paul Leong, Chief Operating Officer of Bintan Treasure Bay, the master developer of the project, said, “The developments that we are planning for our water resort city will set new benchmarks in the region, redefining what it means to be a world-class tourism destination. In terms of scale and what we aim to achieve, this is one of the largest and most ambitious tourism developments to be announced in the region in recent years.”
The company seeks to entice both international and regional tourists to include the site as a must-stop in their travel and leisure plans. The location will be positioned as an attractive venue for honeymoons, weddings and special celebratory events.
The iconic luxury resort, which sits on around 18 acres of land, will feature 149 rooms, including 30 villas, and will likely be ready by 2014. The developer will also offer 160 serviced villas (separately) in the development, ranging between 200 and 1,100 sq m, with built-up areas of 160 to 440 sq m.
In addition, a marina will host luxury yachts and offer boat charter services, boat management and repair and maintenance services.
