According to The Straits Times, some developers remove boundary walls to make showflats appear bigger and show off bay windows that are not present in the actual flats.
Both Singapore and Hong Kong, where real estate prices have been escalating, are fighting the problem.
In Singapore, authorities are looking to announce new rules to guarantee that buyers are not misled by interior design work that are found in showflats but not in the actual apartments.
The rules prevent property developers from raising ceilings and removing structural walls and columns to make the flats appear bigger, as well as guarantee that they accurately show precisely the presence of bomb shelters.

Hope this move will be effective in preventing property developers from doing such tricks.
Some property developers are using various tricks to make their showflats appear bigger. thus, this move is really needed.
This is definitely a good news for property buyers and upgraders. Some showflats are really deceiving buyers as they are not accurate representation of the actual homes.
good thing authorities are cracking down on this practice before it became a rampant 'standard common practice' for property developers and agents.
