The three 34-year-old buildings consist of 374 three-, four- and five-room flats.
This is the 74th site identified for SERS since the programme’s launch in August 1995.
In return, the Housing Development Board (HDB) will build 500 units of two-, three-, four- and five-room flats to house the affected flat owners. The new flats will be situated close to Clementi Town Centre.
Those who are affected can register for their new flats in the third quarter of 2011.
The HDB will also hold an exhibition at the void deck of Block 321, for residents to better understand the SERS.
Affected flat owners will be guaranteed new flats if they are qualified, as well as given price discounts. Those who are not keen on the new flats can sell the rehousing benefits to qualified buyers. They will also be exempted from paying resale levies for their existing homes. They can then purchase a resale flat in their chosen location.
Moving ahead, National Development Minister Mah Bow Tan said the scheme will likely be launched at a slower pace.
“We do Sers on a very regular basis. We have been doing Sers for many years but it is getting harder and harder to look for suitable replacement sites,” said Mr. Mah.
“So I think the pace of Sers will be determined on whether we can find these sites and it is getting harder to do.”
