Located at Marine Parade and East Coast Road, the 102,685 sq ft freehold property currently houses a 229-room hotel and a 95-shop retail arcade. It will be the latest addition to Far East Hospitality’s portfolio.
Refurbishment works, which are set for completion in 2012, will take place in stages and entail major changes on the first, second and third floors. Drawing inspiration from the Peranakan heritage of the surrounding Joo Chiat and Katong districts, the hotel will introduce a Peranakan theme with the use of Peranakan rug patterns and tiles. Upon completion, it will also feature a new club room, new car park levels, a renovated ballroom and modern dining concepts.
“We are investing in refurbishment to take the hotel to new heights,” said Raphael Saw, Chief Operating Officer of Far East Hospitality.
“East Village Hotel will have its own unique brand of hospitality that draws on the Peranakan heritage of its locale. We look forward to offering guests an enhanced and enriched experience, and to infusing new energy and excitement into the area.”
