Built-to-Order (BTO) flats at Boon Lay Grove have received 3,200 applications from first-timer households, or buyers that never purchased a flat with housing subsidies.

Among the total number of applicants, 53 percent have never applied for a BTO project in non-mature estates around the country, 12 percent are third-time applicants and around nine percent have applied more than four times.

According to Mr. Mah Bow Tan, Minister for National Development, 95 percent of new flats were allocated for first-timers, as part of the government’s effort to give Singaporeans their own flats.

Almost 9,000 BTO flats were released in Q1 this year to meet the demand for new units. HDB said it is prepared to release another 7,200 BTO flats by the end of the year.
