SLA has terminated the contract with the YESS Resorts and Country Club, which had used the site in 2007 for a monthly rent of $40,000. It converted the site into a country club.
This was the first time that a preserved national monument was released for tender by the SLA. YESS had proposed to redevelop the site into the multi-purpose Admiral Country Club, which features entertainment activities and family-oriented leisure.
However, SLA said it had terminated the contract after YESS failed to pay its monthly rents, despite repeated warnings. But SLA agreed to allow all the sub-tenants to remain on the site until early-2011.
SLA said it will take over the operations of the site until the re-launch of the public tender.
