Property developer Far East Organisation (FEO) has changed the design and architect for Scotts Tower situated at the junction of Scotts and Cairnhill roads.

The 31-storey, 153-m tower was originally planned to yield 67 luxury apartments with panoramic views and had a built-up floor area of around 20,000 sq m.

Commissioned in 2006, the original design was intended to be launched in late 2007. However, in late 2009, reports said that Far East was reducing the number of units to make them more affordable.

The new design for Scotts Tower is now being planned, and an increase in the number of units is expected.

“Market conditions and unit requirements have changed,” said Chng Kiong Huat, executive director of development and planning at Far East. “The large units did not quite fit with our current market needs.”

“If we had a change of architect, the whole concept will be different, more current. We didn't want to have the same kind of look. We wanted a whole different approach,” he added.

how can they say that this project will be affordable? they said the developer is reducing the units, so less unit, less sales. therefore, in order to meet the target sales for the entire project, each unit will be priced more than before. am i right?
