The Housing and Development Board (HDB) will build around 12,000 new flats under the Build-To-Order (BTO) project this year, if there is a sustained demand.

According to the National Development Minister Mah Bow Tan, this would be supplemented by executive condos and flats under the Design, Build and Sell Scheme.

HDB is committed to ensuring a sufficient supply of new flats, Mr. Mah said in response to a question in parliament.

HDB sold 13,500 new flats last year. Half of which were launched in the fourth quarter to meet the strong demand.

Mr. Mah said that HDB will make the necessary changes to the BTO programme and will continue to monitor any changes in the demand to ensure that there is adequate supply of affordable public housing for various income groups.
