Who lives here: A couple in their 40s and sometimes their foreign guests
Home: A four-bedroom apartment at St Regis Residences
Size: 1,938 sq ft

When this corporate couple want some quiet time, they do not have to fly off for a spa vacation. They have a posh escape right in the heart of the city.

They had their new four-bedroom apartment at the luxe St Regis Residences decked out just for chilling out.

It already came luxuriously fitted out with top-of-the-range finishes, says Mr Alson Wee, design manager of interior design firm Whiteboard by Nobel, which was hired by the home owners to dress up the 1,938 sq ft apartment like a show unit to impress.

'There is also a Bulthaup kitchen with Miele appliances, Poliform wardrobes and the latest Clipsal Ulti light switches,' he says, naming some of the top European brands for interiors.

Senior designer Jocelyn Teo says the design development and renovation were done in a rushed 10 weeks because the couple wanted to start entertaining guests as soon as possible.

'They also use this place to put up their overseas guests, so we decorated it in a boutique-style modern Oriental theme,' says Ms Teo.

Chinese motifs in the living room's mirrored panels are echoed by the custom-built display shelves in the dining and entertainment rooms.

The Oriental print of the gold wallpaper in the foyer is repeated in a different colour in the master bedroom and in another variation in the games room.

Ms Teo came up with a colour palette that works with the original marble and parquet flooring and wood veneer doors. She also picked out furniture, accessories and artwork to give the home character.

Customised details add a lavish touch. The plush, high-backed seating in the entertainment room doubles as soundproofing during karaoke nights for the couple who are in their 40s.

Ms Teo also created lounge seating in the master and guest bedrooms with customised benches by the bay window. The master bedroom also features a specially designed headboard-cum-feature wall.

'Basically, what we did was to enhance and add unique features,' she says, as the original residence was already more than adequate.

But since this retreat is designed for pampering, the lavish gestures are icing on the cake.

    What we love

A custom-made shelf like this one in the couple's dining area, built to display their art collection, is both decorative and functional. The design is a stunning visual element that echoes the Chinese-motif panels in the living room.
