Mr Isaac Chen, an executive in an electronics firm, tells Debbie Yong how a touch of French country decor makes his home a great place to return to.

Mr Isaac Chen, 28

An executive in an electronics firm

Home is a 119 sq m five-room HDB flat in Serangoon North

Lives with his wife Chloe Ang, 28, who works in the health-care industry

I love my home because...

It's a place for us to relax. Though it has a fair number of entertainment gadgets, it still maintains a country feel. It is great to be able to come home every day from work and enjoy a sight greatly different from the urban views outside. This is also our first home together, so it makes it all the more special for us.

My decor theme is...

French provincial mixed with a modern country look.

We chose this theme because we wanted to build a cosy and beautiful home, and also something different from the norm.

Though we have never been to France, we noticed the theme while flipping through interior design magazines and got inspired. We hope to eventually visit the country one day.

My favourite corner is...

Our bedroom. It's a place of rest and comfort. We designed it such that it can give us just that.

I'm most proud of...

How our home turned out to be what we really wanted, after the months that we spent designing and sourcing for the furnishings and decor.

Will I sell it?

Not for the next five to 10 years because it's our first home.
